But Does it Fry is not only a question, it is also a challenge; a challenge to imagine a food, and then seeing if you can deep fry that food. Can you deep fry a sushi roll? Can you deep fry chili? How about a plastic action figure? Or an entire Hamburger, battered and dunked? You’re limited by only your imagination, pre-existing heart conditions, and the size of your fryer. Enjoy!

FEBRUARY 15TH DECLARED NATIONAL “DOES IT FRY?” DAY
Holiday Recognizes Contribution Deep Fryers Have Made to Our Country and Its Culinary Traditions
New York, NY – In the wake of Mayor Bloomberg’s recent crackdown on foods deemed “unhealthy,” two Brooklynites, Michael Glennon and Jory Cunningham, have decided to reclaim their first culinary love – fried food – by declaring the Sunday before President’s day “Does it Fry?” day.
“The problem today is that everyone is too health conscious and it’s not fun any more,” said Michael Glennon, one of the holiday’s founders. “The solution? Fry an entire hamburger and cover it in ice cream.”
The holiday centers around both a deep fryer and a single question: “Does it Fry?” The two plan on trying their luck with everything from whole hamburgers to chili to pizza, and through the holiday’s web site www.doesitfry.com, challenge participants to push the limits of what is not just feasible to fry, but what is delicious.
“There is something fun about how indulgent and innovative we can be with our food perversity,” said Glennon. “Shouldn’t that kind of American ingenuity be celebrated? We put a man on a moon, sure, but we also wrapped a breakfast sausage with a chocolate chip pancake and put a stick through it. That’s a beautiful thing.”
“We have holidays celebrating everything else out there,” said Jory Cunningham, the holiday’s co-founder. “There’s a No Pants Day, a World Toilet Day and even a National Baked Bean Month. Why not a national holiday celebrating all the greasy, fatty, delicious food we can bread, wrap in bacon, batter or cover in sprinkles?”
